Renttix + Twilio Integration

Send SMS from your own Twilio account — delivery notifications, maintenance alerts and time-critical messages that need to arrive whether or not the recipient has a smartphone, a data signal, or your app installed.

SMS alerts from your own Twilio account, on your own number.
Renttix + Twilio Integration

How it connects

You add your own Twilio account credentials in the Renttix integration settings, and messages are sent from your Twilio account on your own sender number. There is a test action so you can confirm the connection works before it is relied on, rather than discovering a typo in an account identifier the first time something urgent needs to go out. Numbers are normalised to international E.164 format before sending. That sounds like a technicality, but it is the difference between a message reaching a customer who saved their number in a local format and one that silently fails — a common and hard-to-diagnose cause of alerts that were never received. The same Twilio connection underpins WhatsApp Business messaging in Renttix, so a single account can serve both channels rather than requiring separate arrangements for each.

Why it matters

SMS is the channel that works when nothing else does. It needs no app, no data connection, no login and no smartphone — which matters when the person you need to reach is on a site with poor coverage, using a basic handset, or driving. For a message that has to arrive, it remains the most reliable option available. Hire generates exactly those messages. A driver is thirty minutes out. A machine on site has an inspection due. A collection scheduled for tomorrow needs confirming. These are short, time-bound and consequential, and they do not belong in an inbox that will be read tonight. Using your own Twilio account matters as much as the channel itself. Messages come from your number, your sender reputation is yours, your message history and costs sit in an account you control, and you are not dependent on a shared pool of numbers you cannot see. If you ever move away, the relationship with your messaging provider is yours to keep.

Key workflows

Maintenance and service alerts

Send SMS alerts when equipment needs attention — an inspection falling due, a service interval reached, a fault reported from the field. Alerts reach the responsible person directly rather than waiting to be noticed on a dashboard.

Delivery and collection notifications

Tell customers when a driver is on the way or a collection is due. SMS arrives on any handset without an app or a data connection, which is what makes it dependable for site contacts and plant operators.

Your account, your number

Messages send from your own Twilio account and sender number, with a built-in test action to verify the connection before you depend on it. Numbers are normalised to E.164 automatically so locally-formatted contacts do not fail silently.

Twilio provides the SMS channel in Renttix and the transport underneath WhatsApp Business messaging, alongside email and the customer portal. Because messaging is wired into the same order, customer and asset records as the rest of the platform, an alert is triggered by something that actually happened in the business rather than by a separate rule engine that has to be kept in step by hand.

Twilio integration FAQ

Yes. You supply your own Twilio credentials and sender number, so messages go out on your number, your message history and spend sit in your account, and your sender reputation belongs to you. Renttix does not resell messaging through a shared pool.

Yes. There is a test action in the integration settings that sends a message using the credentials you have entered, so a mistyped account identifier or auth token surfaces immediately rather than the first time an urgent alert fails to arrive.

Yes — WhatsApp Business messaging in Renttix runs over Twilio, so the same account can serve both SMS and WhatsApp. You add your approved WhatsApp sender number alongside the Twilio credentials to enable the WhatsApp channel.
