Integration

Renttix + Square Integration

Connect the Square account your trade counter already runs on, and take payment for hire invoices through it — with settlement flowing back into Renttix automatically.

Take hire payments on the Square account your counter already uses.
Renttix + Square Integration

How it connects

Renttix authenticates against Square with a token you supply — either a Personal Access Token from the Square Developer Dashboard or an OAuth access token if you have installed an OAuth app. Both are used the same way, and both are scoped to your account alone. Every request Renttix makes is made on your behalf, so funds settle where your Square money already settles. Square notifies Renttix of payment events by webhook, and each notification has its signature verified before an invoice is touched. Invoices are marked paid from confirmed events only, which keeps the hire ledger honest even though the payment happened outside Renttix.

Why it matters

Plenty of hire businesses already run Square at the trade counter for over-the-counter sales and walk-in hires. Adding a second, unrelated payment provider for invoiced hire means two dashboards, two settlement timetables and two sets of fees to reconcile — for no benefit to anyone. Using the account you already have keeps the finance side simple: one payment provider, one settlement stream, one place to look when a customer says they have paid. The difference is that invoiced hire payments now reconcile themselves against the order they belong to instead of being matched by hand.

Key workflows

One account for counter and contract

Use the same Square account for walk-in trade and invoiced hire, so settlement, fees and reporting stay in one place rather than split across two providers.

Automatic invoice settlement

Square payment events reach Renttix by webhook and settle the matching hire invoice, so your receivables reflect money actually taken rather than someone's recollection.

Verified events only

Every inbound webhook has its signature checked before it is acted on. Unverified notifications are rejected, so an invoice cannot be cleared by a forged event.

Square sits alongside Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay, Mercado Pago, Xendit, Alipay+ and Airwallex in the Renttix payment layer. Settled payments feed the same invoice records that flow on to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and the rest, so taking the money and accounting for it are one path rather than two.

Square integration FAQ

Either works. Renttix accepts a Personal Access Token from the Square Developer Dashboard or an OAuth access token, and uses both the same way. Whichever you supply is scoped to your own Square account.

Yes — that is usually the point. Hire invoices settle through the same account as your counter takings, so you keep one settlement stream and one set of reporting rather than reconciling two providers.

Signature verification. Renttix checks the signature on every inbound Square webhook before acting on it, and rejects anything that does not verify.
